On Thursday the Kenedy Lions JV hosted the Pettus Eagles JV in a non district football game. The Lions would take the lead in the first quarter as Patrick Aquero would return an interception 65 yards for the Lions first score. Joey White would run the 2pt conversion in for the 8-0 lead. In the second quarter White would scramble in from 16 yards and then run the 2pt conversion in to make it 16-0 in which would be the half time score. In the third quarter the Lions Victor Monsevais would pick off another Eagles pass at the Lions 40 yd line. The Lions would drive down to score as White would get his second touchdown of the evening as he scored from 25 yards out. The 2pt conversion was no good and the Lions led 22-0. Early in the fourth quarter Cedric Mejia would go 60 yards for the last score for the Lions and Jacob Asebedo would run the 2pt conversion to finish out the scoring at 30 for the Lions. The offensive line of Devyn Schultz, Robby Gutierrez, Jordan Valdez, Bryant Tiemann, and Daniel Fuentes did a great job making holes for the running backs. The defense did a great job also as they would only give up 2 first downs and record the shut out. With the win the Lions move to 2-0 and will host Kingsville freshmen team Thursday as Runge doesn’t have a JV. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 but will follow the junior high game that starts at 5.
