Julio G. Perez, age 91, a resident of Karnes City, Texas died Sept. 9, 2011 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born, Apr. 9. 1920, in Runge, Texas, to Clare Perez and Ignacia Garza Perez. Mr. Perez proudly served his country during WW II, serving in the 175th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army, he was a Staff Sergeant and a Squad Leader receiving medals from an Oak Leaf Cluster to a Purple Heart. He was a member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church; the Benito Juarez Association; and a proud active member of his community. Julio retired in 2000 from Karnes County after working there since 1958. He served under many county judges as a County Social Worker, Court Interpreter, a Veterans Services Officer, and he was also a part owner of J & J Bail Bonds. He is survived by his daughters Rose Vasquez of Houston, Texas, and Lori Perez of Richmond, Texas; son Robert Perez and wife Lupita of Conroe, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Lupe Perez; brothers Alberto and Armando Perez; and sister Clarita Aguirre. A Rosary was recited 7 PM, Monday Sept. 12, 2011 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City, and a Funeral Mass was recited 10 AM, Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Interment will follow at 2 PM, Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 at the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
