The KCHS Cross Country teams competed in the Trojan Classic meet Saturday, and Coach Jennifer Card said all of the runners competed well for their first competition.

“I was impressed by the effort each one gave,” Card said.

The JV boys’ team placed fourth overall, with sophomore Chris Tobar medaling with his 18th place. Freshmen Robert Morin followed with 22nd place, and Angel May finished 25th.

For Varsity Girls, freshman Kristina Sauceda finished 23rd.

“It was different from junior high, but it was a good experience,” Sauceda said. “I did not expect to rank that high for my first varsity meet.”

Senior Miguel Perales, the lone varsity boy runner, placed 43rd.

For JV girls, all freshmen, Seande Goodhue came in 21st.

Two junior high runners medaled during Saturday’s competition. For the girls, Jordan Garcez topped all runners with a first place gold medal, and Emily Valdez came in 35th.

In the junior high boys division, Kyler Palmer was a ninth place medalist.
