THREE RIVERS – Thursday September 15th the Kenedy JV was scheduled to play Three Rivers JV but due to injuries they were not able to field a team so the Lions ended up playing the Odem 9th grade team there in Three Rivers.

The Lions would jump out to the early lead as Cedric Mejia would score from 25 yards. The extra point kick was no good and the Lions led 6-0.

The defense would shut down the Owls offense and still in the first quarter the Lions would score as Joey White would take it in from 1 yard out. Jordan Valdez kick would be just wide to leave the score at 12-0.

On the next two possessions the Lions would turn it over on bad snaps to keep the Owls in the game. The last score the Lions would get would come with 7:48 in the second quarter as Jeremy Rodriguez would go 75 yards for the score. Valdez would try the extra point but would fall just short as on each extra point the Lions had a penalty.

The second offensive unit would take over from there and not be able to get into the end zone but would have some success moving the ball.

With the 18-0 shut out win the Lions are now 4-0. Next up for the Lions will be Yorktown here in Kenedy with kickoff right after the junior high game.
