The Lady Badgers Volleyball team will attempt to break their second-place District 30-2A tie with George West at the Lady Longhorns’ home at 5 p.m. Friday.

Karnes City comes off a split week, winning last Friday against Natalia but falling to district leaders Poth on Sept. 20. The girls faced Dilley Tuesday after deadlines but were 24-5 overall and 4-1 in district going into the week.

On Friday, Karnes City defeated Natalia 25-22, 25-13, 25-20 in what has consistently been a team effort. Senior Sarah Barkley tallied 10 kills, eight blocks and four aces. Sophomore Kayla Ramirez had 26 digs, two aces and a kill. Junior Aileen Lundquist added 14 digs, 28 assists and four aces. Junior Khadeshia Hopkins recorded 12 kills and three blocks, while classmate Kalli Ferguson chipped in another seven kills, five blocks, four digs and a pair of aces. Junior Courtney Pieprzyca tallied seven kills, a block and a dig. Junior Jonie Reyes contributed 19 digs, an ace, and two kills. Junior Dora Bazan had 13 digs, while Junior Lani Pitts chipped in another three kills and two blocks; and Senior Korie Rodriguez had 17 assists, four kill and nine digs.

“We need to play hard, have fun, work as a team, do all of the little things, take care of business and do what we got to do,” Lundquist said.

Pieprzyca added communicating on the court is key.

No stats were available from the Poth game on Sept. 21, but the Lady Badgers faltered 25-14, 25-14, 25-9.
