JV Lions are undefeated

Thursday October 6th the Kenedy JV traveled to Victoria to play the St. Joesph Flyers.

The Lions would be tested by the Flyers who played hard on every down.

The Lions would strike first as they took the opening kickoff and drove the field with Jeremy Rodriguez running it in from 16 yards out.

The extra point kick would be no good to leave the score at 6-0.

This score would stand till the third quarter.

The Lions would have three other possessions that would stall in the Flyers red zone.

The defense would play great as they would cause 5 turnovers.

Dominic Cruz, Javier Hernandez, and Jordan Valdez would all have interceptions in the first half.

The Flyers would take the lead early in the 4th quarter as they ran the reverse and scored from 22 yards out and with the 2pt conversion pass was good to give the Flyers the lead 8-6.

The Flyers would take advantage of a Lions fumble and drive to the Lions 18 yard line looking to put the game away but the defense would cause a fumble that Angel Flores would recover.

On this possession the Lions would drive 90 yards for the winning score with 43 second left Dominic Cruz connected to Seph Villerreal on a 7 yard touchdown.

The Lions 2pt conversion was no good to leave the score at 12-8. The game would end as Marcos Dehoyos would pick off the half back pass by the Flyers to preserve the win and keep the Lions JV undefeated with a 6-0 record.

Next up for the Junior High and JV will be Falls City on October 13 th in Kenedy with the first game starting at 5.
