Senior Sarah Barkley had 11 kills, four blocks and three aces. Junior Aileen Lundquist led in assists with 26 assists, and she chipped in 12 digs and four aces, while Senior Korie Rodriguez had 20 assists, eight digs, two aces,5 five kills and two blocks. Junior Kalli Ferguson had nine kills, three blocks and three digs. Junior Jonie Reyes added 17 digs and 3 kills. Junior Courtney Pierprzyca had five kills, four digs and a block. Sophomore Kayla Ramirez contributed 15 digs and two aces. Junior Lani Pitts had five kills and two blocks, and Junior Dora Bazan added another 10 digs.
After Friday’s game, the Lady Badgers continue to hold third in district behind Poth and George West, which they face Oct. 25 here. Their overall record was 28-7 overall and district record went to 9-3.
We all have to want it,” Rodriguez said, as they focus on their remaining district games, especially George West. “We know what needs to be done. It’s a matter of every team member doing their part, as well as believed that we can do this.”
They faced Natalia there Tuesday, but because of deadlines, it will be in next week’s edition.
The Lady Badgers Volleyball team coasted to a win in three games against Jourdanton Oct. 11. Karnes City’s varsity won 25-10, 25-13 and 25-15.
Pieprzyca recorded nine kills, a block and two aces, while Barkley had eight kills, four blocks, seven aces and three digs. Lundquist led in assists with 18 assists, and she also had eight digs, five aces and a kill. Rodriguez 10 assists, five digs, three aces, two kills and two blocks. Reyes got 12 digs and 5 aces, while Ramirez chipped in another 11 digs and six aces. Senior Maria Moncada had five digs and two aces. Bazan added another seven digs.
“We have to play hard and as a team,” Moncada said. “We need to go out on the court with confidence.”
