The Kenedy Cubs hosted the Woodsboro Eagles in one football game on Thursday October 27th. The Cubs were looking to run there record to 6-2 on the season and they did just that as they were able to defeat the Eagles 28-8. The Cubs would get on the board first as Brandon Castillo would scramble in from 16 yards out. The 2pt try was no good to make it 6-0. In the second quarter Travis Vickery would cut his way through the Eagles defense with 4 seconds left in the half for a 15 yard TD. Castillo would add the 2pt conversion to make it 14-0 at the half. In the third quarter the Eagles would cut into the Cubs lead with a 37 yard run and then the 2pt conversion to make it 14-8. The Cubs would answer right back as they drove down and Vickery would run it in from 19 yards. The 2pt try was no good to give the Cubs a 20-8 advantage. In the 4th quarter Gabe Tafolla would cause the Eagle fumble and Castillo would scoop it up and get to the Eagles 4 yard line. Derrick Wilson would get the honors on the next carry and push his way in for the TD. He would also add the 2pt conversion to make it 28-8. Wilson would then add a interception to his day as he would pick off the Eagles pass at the Kenedy 10 yard line to end the game. The Cubs would run the rest of the clock out after that to run there record to 6-2. The offensive line mixed with 7th and 8th graders; Rudy Vasquez, James Cooksey, Santos Molina, Jakob Castillo, and Isaiah Zapata all did a good job giving Vickery, Tafolla, Castillo, Wilson, and Aaron Villarreal room to run. Last game is scheduled for next Thursday November 3rd in Pettus.
