Leopards lose close game to Yorktown

On November 15th, the Kenedy Leopards lost a close one to Yorktown 24-21. Samantha Espinosa led Kenedy with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 9 steals, and she took a charge. Laurel Vickery had 4 points, 9 steals, 3 rebounds, and an assist. Teryn Schmidt had 4 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals. Karly Nichols 4 points, 9 rebounds, and a steal; while Lauren Hernandez 2 points, 5 steals, a block, and an assist. Saren Sutton had 5 rebounds and Priscilla Torres had 3 steals and an assist.

Friday the 18th the Leopards played Cole in the Cole Tournament and were defeated 37-13. Teryn Schmidt led the Leopards with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist. Lauren Hernandez had 2 points and 2 steals; Priscilla Torres had 2 points and 1 rebound; while Samantha Espinosa had 1 point, 6 rebounds and a steal. Saren Sutton had 7 rebounds and 1 assist and Laurel Vickery had 3 steals and 1 each rebound and assist.

Then later Friday, Fox Tech defeated Kenedy 28-24 in a hard fought game. Schmidt once again led the Leopards with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and an assist. Hernandez had 4 points, 7 rebounds, and a steal. Sutton had 2 points, 7 rebounds; Espinosa 2 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist; Nichols 2 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and an assist; and Vickery 1 point and 1 assist.

In the final game Saturday, Randolph defeated Kenedy 46-24. Schmidt again led the Leopards with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks. Sutton had 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Hernandez 3 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals and 2 assists. Vickery 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 each steal and assist. Espinosa 2 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and a block. Rebecca Brown had 3 rebounds and 2 assists and Torres also had 2 assists.

Congratulations to Teryn Schmidt who was selected to the all-tournament team averaging 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and an assist a game.
