Falls City player scores 10 points in TLU season opener

Chelsey Stolle, from Falls City, came off the bench to score 10 points for the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs basketball team on Nov. 15.

Southwestern’s Chelsea Leeder and Jordan Owens combined for 54 points as the Pirates spoiled Texas Lutheran’s home and season-opener Tuesday with a 74-52 road victory.

TLU (0-1) trailed 36-19 at the half and never recovered. Southwestern out-scored TLU by five, 38-33, in the second half.

In the first half, the Bulldogs shot just 30.8 percent and committed 12 turnovers that led to 17 Southwestern points.

TLU recovered to shoot 45.5 percent in the second half and finished the game at 39 percent. The Bulldogs were just 3-of-10 from the three-point line and 3-of-6 from the foul line.

The Bulldogs’ next contest is set for Saturday, Nov. 26 against Mississippi College. The game, the American Southwest Conference opener for both squads, is set for a 1 p.m. tip in TLU’s Memorial Gymnasium.
