Lady Badgers beat Moulton, 45-31

The Lady Badger Basketball team handed Moulton its first loss Nov. 22, winning 45-31.

“The girls are doing great,” Coach Burke Braun said. “We have a young team. We are improving every game.”

Sophomore Kayla Ramirez and Junior Lani Pitts led all scorers with eight apiece. Junior Kalli Ferguson added another six. Sophomore Katy Gotthardt hit a three-pointer and chipped in another two to score five, along with Junior Courtney Piepryzca and Freshman Morgan Kelley.

The girls started off slow, scoring only four points in the first quarter, but then turned up the heat in the second half, scoring 13 in the third and 15 in the fourth quarters. They hit seven of eight free throws in the final quarter.

The varsity teams participate this Thursday through Saturday in the Badger Boosters’ Basketball Tournament. The Lady Badgers face Pearsall at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, at the KCHS Gym.

The JV fell to Moulton 22-38. They will participate Saturday in the JV Goliad Tournament.
