The Honorable Gilbert Garza, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Karnes County, 63, of Runge passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011. He was born Jan 10, 1948 in Runge, Texas to Hill Garza(deceased) and Cecilia Garza. He married Yolanda (Solis) Garza on January 10, 1970. Judge Garza graduated from Runge High School and from Bee County College where he received a degree in business and accounting. He was a former employee of Oetken Grocery and Gulf Energy Gas Plant. He currently owned and operated Garza's Chevron Station in Runge and was also an oil field gauger. He was elected in 1990 as Justice of the Peace. He was also a former city councilman and a past member of the Lions Club. He was a retired member of the Runge Volunteer Fire Department, where he participated as an active member for over 20 years and currently holds honorary member status. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Solis Garza; daughter Donna (Oscar) Caballero; son Jerry (Veronica) Garza; mother Cecilia Garza; sisters Toni Torres and Hilda (Henry) Castro all of Runge. He was preceded in death by his brother Adolfo Garza. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Finch Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011. Burial will be held at the Runge Latin Cemetery.
