Julia Bernard Homeyer, age 79, of Kenedy died Dec. 3, 2011. Born July 30, 1932, in Granger, TX, to J. T. and Maud Robbins Bernard. She worked with her husband, Alex A. Homeyer, Jr. in the family lumber business for many years, and later worked as a teacher’s aide in Kenedy and Karnes City School districts.

“Momo” was an avid homemaker who had the ability to make something out of nothing with her God-given talents and unique creativity. She was a teacher to all of us and gave us daily lessons in life. She dearly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Alex A. “Lex” Homeyer, III, and a brother, Billy Bob Bernard.

She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Thomas Moy of Karnes City, TX, and cousin, Donald Ray Bernard of Mesquite, TX, and former daughter-in-law, Lori Homeyer of Goliad, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Lane Homeyer of Goliad, Thomas “Tres” Moy III and wife Stephanie of Falls City, TX, Alexis Moy West and husband Josh of Pawelekville, TX; great-grandchildren, Lexi Lee West, Calvin Thomas West and Isla Grace Moy.

Visitation was held Tuesday, December 6, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Eckols Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 4 p.m. with Rev. John Wheat officiating. Interment will be in the Karnes City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Moy III, Josh West, Johnny Moy, Gary Moy, Phil Moy, Charlie Tshoeppe, Dr. Wade Phelps and Bobby Ray Bernard. Honorary pallbearers are John Sutton, Bobby Homeyer, Brad Wright, Dr. Roberto Ramirez, Jimmy Zapata, Bobby Blackmon and Ralph Blaschke.
