COTULLA – The Lady Badger Basketball team began the first round of district Tuesday night against Three Rivers and faced Cotulla there Friday night.

They finished their pre-district season 4-3, with the exception of tournament games. They took first in the Karnes City Tournament Dec. 1-3 and third in the Faith Academy Tournament.

“We played good in pre-season, and we’re fired up and looking forward to district and playoffs,” Coach Burke Braun said. “We have to bring the attitude to play every night.”

Friday, Dec. 9:

KC 60 – Skidmore-Tynan 64

Last week’s game against a tough Skidmore team did not go as the Lady Badgers had hoped.

The game went back and forth until finally it came down to the last minute. The Lady Badgers were forced to foul to get the ball in their hands, but the Lady Bobcat they fouled was the leading scorer and best player.

Junior Courtney Piepryzca led the girls with 16 points, and Junior Aileen Lundquist had 10. Freshman Morgan Kelley scored 7 and Junior Kalli Ferguson six to round out the effort.

Dec. 6:

KC 54 – Stockdale 61

Stockdale returned to the KCHS gym last week seeking revenge after the Lady Badgers defeated them in the championship game of the Karnes City Basketball Tournament Dec. 3. Despite Lundquist’s 19 points, Stockdale won by seven. No other Lady Badgers pulled double digits.
