The oil and gas industry has helped our local economy, but it is definitely not helping our environment.
The county road we live on is now lined with trash thrown from oil rig worker’s vehicles; our south fence line was covered in trash for months while a well was being drilled next to us on a neighbor’s property; we have 2-3 inches of caliche (and who knows what chemicals) on a strip of our pasture that was washed from a well pad onto our property during a rain event; and now we get to breathe the smoke and unburned chemicals from flares.
I can’t even go outside anymore because of the awful smell.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality won’t return my phone calls.
I will also be sending this photo to every newspaper and state agency I can think of in hopes we will still have decent air to breathe in the coming years!
