He was born August 1, 1928 in Floresville, Texas to Francisco Escobedo and Carmen Amador Escobedo. Pedro was a night watchman for the City of Karnes City for many years; he was a ranch hand; a lineman for Karnes Electric Co-op; and has worked at Smolik’s Market.
Survivors include his son Pedro Escobedo Jr. and wife Angie of Karnes City; daughters, Olga Martinez and husband David of San Marcos, Belen Avila and husband Jesse of San Marcos, and Martha Alonzo and husband Herbie of Lampasas, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four sisters; and one brother.
Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcella Castillo Escobedo; daughter, Louisa Escobedo; numerous brothers and sisters; and one grandson.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Saturday Jan. 14, 2012 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City, and a graveside service was held 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012 at the Karnes City Cemetery. Deacon Cesar Ponce officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Frank Escobedo, Oscar Escobedo, Raul Garza, Elias Brysch Jr., Elias Brysch III, Willie Arvizu, and Fidencio Vera. Funeral services were entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home where the on-line guestbook may be signed at rhodesfuneralhomeinc.com.
