The Lady Badger Basketball team faltered with defense, allowing some easy lay-ups, but in the end, they overcame Jourdanton 66-27 last Friday night.

They are operating on the philosophy, “Success is our only option – failure’s not,” said Sophomore Point-Guard Kayla Ramirez, who was high-point scorer with 12.

Rounding out scoring was Junior Post Khadeshia Hopkins with 10, Junior Point-Guard Aileen Lundquist with 9 and Junior Wing Courtney Pieprzyca with 8.

The girls held Jourdanton’s high-point girl to only 8.

“We are doing pretty good in district right now,” Ramirez said, noting the girls’ 6-1 District 14-2A record.

The Lady Badgers are second to Poth, whom they face Jan. 24 there, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“With Poth coming up, we Lady Badgers are working hard each and every day,” Ramirez added. “It’s going to be tough to compete with them, but anything is possible. We are going to have to fight heard to earn our spot in district.”
