Senior John Mendoza won the top lifter award as well as 1st place in the heavyweight 275 lb. division with a total lift of 1,425 lbs. to lead the way.
“It feels good being in Powerlifting knowing that my team and I are getting stronger,” Mendoza said Monday.
The girls team placed 5th overall and consisted of Krysttal Renteria (9th place 114lb division), Stephanie Moya (8th place 114lb division), Darian Ramirez (1st place 123lb division), Ashlin Liska (4th place 132lb division), Alyssa Castillo (6th place 132lb division), Caley Jackson (1st place 148lb division), Marisella Alaniz (5th place 165lb division), Alexia Jonas (7th place 165lb division), and Tatiana Tinoco (3rd place 220lb division).
Twenty-five powerlifters traveled to Three Rivers Jan. 27-28 for its meet, paced by Freshman Trent Enriquez taking 1st in the Super Heavy Weight Division for Freshmen Boys, Brianna Hopkins winning 1st in JV Girls and three others earning 2nd place.
