The Badgers Baseball team competed in the TMI tournament Feb. 23-25.

Their first game was against Comfort and they were defeated 8-0. Within the first two innings the Badgers gave up 6 runs. Sophomore Jeremy Coronado pitched during that game.

The Badgers defeated Natalia 4-3 in the next game. Senior Cody Salas pitched that game and got the win for the Badgers.

In their last game the Badgers were defeated 3-0. The Badgers had bases loaded with 2 outs in the last inning and Senior Lawrence Carrasco hit a line drive to the right fielder that made a sliding grab to end the game.

“Over the weekend we showed some signs of improvement,” Head Baseball Coach Cody Fields said. “We have to start better; we cannot fall behind early just not being ready to play.”

On Saturday the Badgers were defeated by San Marcos 6-5. The Badgers chipped away in the last two innings but fell a run short.

Seniors Lawrence Carrasco and Cody Salas were named all-tournament.

Junior Phillip Vaughan is leading the team with a .750 batting average and 2 steals.
