Refugia Sanchez, age 88, a lifelong resident of Falls City, Texas, passed away Mar. 15, 2012 in Floresville, Texas. She was born July 4, 1923 in Falls City to Macario Aguirre and Juanita Diaz Aguirre. She was a Homemaker, a Catholic by faith and a member of De Colores. Refugia is survived by her daughter Mary Lou Jaramillo and her husband Manuel of Karnes City, Texas; sisters Rosa Sanchez of Hobson, Texas, Modesta Sanchez of Snyder, Texas, and Dominga De Hoyos of New Mexico; stepmother Dominga Aguirre of Falls City; grandchildren Christina Cervantes, Molly Hons, Susan Garcia, Paul Jaramillo, Gracie Hons, and Amanda Hons; and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her birth parents; her parents that raised her Dionicio Aguirre and Eliadia Aguirre; brothers Juan Aguirre, Clemente Aguirre, Cleofas Aguirre, and Adolph Aguirre; sisters Genevieve Jaramillo, Rufina Martinez, and Genara Flores; and a great grandson Diego Alexander Garcia. Visitation began 1 PM Sunday March 18, 2012 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City with a rosary at 7 PM. A funeral mass was recited 10 AM, Monday March 19, 2012 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City, with interment following in the Falls City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Roger Garcia, Kelly Hons, Paul Jaramillo, Louis Hons, Victor De Hoyos, and Ruben Sanchez; and honorary pallbearers included Patrick Cervantes, Matthew Hons, Kaleb Hons, Mark Hons, and Mason Garcia.
