The transformer on the lights overheated and cut the lights off at the top of the 4th inning with the Lions leading 2-0.
Rolie Zepeda was on the mound for the Lions and had struck out 6 and allowing 1 hit.
The Lions scored two runs in the second inning as RayJ Garza reached on an error, a Kris Bryan infield hit, and followed by a Jeremy Rodriguez double with a full count and runners going Garza and Bryan would score with no play at the plate. The game will continue on April 10th as per district rules for first round games that are suspended.
On Friday the Lions traveled to Pettus and would take home a convincing win with Dominic Cruz pitching 6 shutout innings striking out 10 and giving up 3 hits.
Brother Isaac Cruz would close out the 7th inning striking out the side but giving up a run on two walks and a hit.
The game would go 7 innings as the Lions were able to 12 runs in the process. In the 2nd inning the Lions would send 12 batters and score 6 runs. The Lions would score 1 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and 3 in the 7th.
Leading the offensive charge for the Lions was Tristan Mejia was 4 for 5 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. Isaac Cruz continued his hitting streak going 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 RBI’s. Eddie Villarreal went 2 for 3 and Rolie Zepeda plus Jeremy Rodriguez would both go 1 for 4 in the game to round out the hitting in the 11 hit attack that the Lions would have.
They would also receive 10 walks and 2 hit by pitches with 5 errors by the Eagles to add to the 12 runs in the 12 to 1 victory to move the Lions to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in district play.
The Lions travel to Falls City for a JV game at 5 followed by the Varsity game at 7 on Tuesday the 27th and then on March 30th the Lions host Runge for one Varsity game starting at 7.
