Badger baseball team tied for 3rd in district

The Badger Baseball team was tied for third place in district after big wins last week.

They traveled to Dilley Tuesday (see results in next week’s issue) and return home this Friday against Jourdanton. The varsity game begins at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, April 5, the Badger Baseball team defeated Natalia 9-4. Junior Philip Vaughan went 3-4 with two runs scored, 1RBI and 2 stolen bases. Sophomore Josh Martinez went 3-3 with 1 run scored and 2RBI’s. Senior Lawrence Carrasco pitched a complete game giving up 1 earned run and striking out 12 batters.

On Tuesday, April 3, the Badger Baseball team traveled to George West and earned a huge district win. Early in the game Badgers took a 5-0 lead. In the 3rd inning George West made a comeback scoring 3 and then 1 in the 4th inning making it a 1-run game. Sophomore Jeremy Coronado “settled down on the mound and took control of the game,” said Head Coach Cody Fields. Senior Lawrence Carrasco hit a clutch 2-out double in the top of the 7th giving the Badgers an extra run. Junior Philip Vaughan and Garrett Liska both went 2-4. Vaughan carried 3 RBI’s along with a stolen base, and Liska reeled in a RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base.
