Lions warm up with Somerset

On Friday May 4th the Lions traveled to Somerset to play the 3A Bulldogs in a warm up game before the Lions were to play in their area championship game next week. The Lions would fall to the Bulldogs 12 -3 and not play their best baseball on the night as they committed 4 errors and gave up 7 walks which would get the Lions in trouble. Tristan Mejia would get the start and go 2 and 1/3 giving up 7 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks with only 3 of the runs earned. Isaac Cruz would come in next and record an inning giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 1 run earned. Rolie Zepeda would finish it out giving up 2 unearned runs in 2 and 2/3 work striking out 6 and walking 2. Scoring for the Lions were Dominic Cruz, Isaac Cruz, and RayJ Garza. JD De Los Santos led the way at the plate going 2 for 3 and driving in 2 runs. Tristan Mejia went 1 for 3. Eddie Villarreal also went 1 for 3 with a double. With the loss the Lions record is now 15-3. Next up will be the Charlotte Trojans in the Area round on May 11th and 12th in a 2 out of 3 series.
