SKYWARN Basic Spotter Training Class

Have you ever noticed all the severe weather lately and been interested in what it took to be a spotter for the National Weather Service? Paul Yura from the National Weather Service will be on hand to discuss the basic functions of a weather spotter. Thunderstorm formation, types and hazards will be discussed; as well as, procedures for reporting hazardous weather. When: 7 pm, May 15, 2012. Where: Kenedy City Hall’s Ruhman C. Franklin Municipal Auditorium. Cost: Free (2 CEU’s offered on as needed basis for $10).

Managing the Cowherd

Dr. Joe Paschal, Extension Livestock Specialist, will discuss various nutrition and health practices that are needed for your cattle operation. Dr. Larry Falconer, Extension Economist, will discuss the economics of nutrition and health practices. Two (2) general CEU’s will be offered.When: 7 p.m., May 16th, 2012. Where: Falls City Community Hall. Cost: $10.

Private Pesticide Applicator Class

A private pesticide applicator class will be held in Kenedy at the Ashland Aqualon Training Center in Kenedy. If you want to be the purchase and apply restricted use chemical for spraying weeds and brush then this is the license you need. Please register by coming by the Extension Office so you can pick up the books at the New Courthouse Annex located at 210 W. Calvert, suite 160. When: 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. , May 24 (Please note date change). Where: Ashland Aqualon Training Center. Cost: $45.00: books, $15.00: class.
