Manuela Serenil Cardona, 80, of Karnes City, died June 28, 2012.

She was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Karnes City to Jose Serenil and Viviana Bustillos Serenil. She was a housewife and a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City. Manuela and Severo Cardona Sr. were married on June 10, 1956.

Survivors include children Shirley (Pedro) Reyna, Norma Cardona, Severo Cardona Jr., Belen Cardona, Lee Cardona, and Arlene (Ricardo Castro) Cardona-Castro; 21 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and 17 great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers Ysidro, Lalo, Jose, and Anselmo Serenil.

A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m., Saturday June 30, 2012 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Karnes City. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Rhodes Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Karnes City Latin Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Pedro Reyna Jr., Michael Morin Jr., Jessie Morin, Franco C. Padron, Randy Alvarado, and Aaron Sierra; and serving as honorary pallbearers were Ali Garza Cardona, and Brandon Ortiz.
