Jay Dromgoole, 49, formerly of Yoakum, died Friday, Aug. 31, 2012.

Mr. Dromgoole was born Feb. 12, 1963, in Yoakum, to Frank and Yvonne Houck Dromgoole. He graduated from Yoakum High School in 1981 and was an independent sales rep for Weaver Leather Company since 1993, and for Reinsman Equestrian, Cactus Ropes and K Bar J. He was a member of the Yoakum Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandparents, Doc and Helen Dromgoole and Garland and Bernice Houck.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Zimmerman Dromgoole; daughters, Kaitlyn Shelton, Candace Cardenas (Rene), both of Cuero, and Krystal Shelton (Aaron) Branton of Grand Prairie; a son, Russ Shelton (Angie) of Victoria; grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler and Brianna Shelton, Caroline and Abigail Breaux, Nicholas and Madison Cardenas, Darren, Braden, Trinity and Gage Branton, Doss, Merrill, Percy and Quincy Torrez; a brother, Darrell A. Dromgoole (Julie); a niece, Amy Dromgoole of College Station; an aunt, Jeanette Galen; and a cousin.

Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum.

The funeral service was conducted there at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3, with Mr. Terry Starling officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Russ Shelton, Cody Feril, Rene Cardenas, Tyler Shelton, Doss Torrez, Gabe Julufka, Will Zimmerman, David Zimmerman and Aaron Branton.

A reception for family and friends followed at the Yoakum Community Center.
