In an email Oct 5, 2012 to the Karnes County clerk, County Judge Barbara Shaw has cancelled all Criminal County Courts until Jan 2013 in her continuing fight with the County Attorney Bob Busselman. As of this date she has yet to notify the county attorney or his office. County Judge Shaw is demanding that he fire Assistant County Attorney Betty Yarter which he has flatly refused to do. Judge Shaw wants to hire Ross Fisher to be the County Prosecutor at a cost to Karnes County of $1250 per day plus expenses. Bob Busselman has told Judge Shaw that he will not agree to that, period. What this does is add more backlog to county cases, keeps prisoners in jail till Jan 2013 at huge costs to the county and denies those prisoners and others with a case before the court of due process of law, and also makes Karnes County liable for legal action. In my opinion, this is also a very serious breach of judicial ethics, and a lack of honesty, integrity and professionalism on the part of Judge Shaw. This isn't junior high school, and as Judge Korzekwa, told Judge Shaw and the Commissioners Court, "You all need to take the pacifiers out of your mouth and start acting like adults."
