The Karnes County 4-H Horse Project Group competed in the Texas State Hippology Contest in Scurry, on Aug. 25. This was the first state competition for this group, since their inception in 2010. Karnes County entered 2 junior teams. Kristi Bolf, Kyler Palmer and Laramie Glover made up Team #1, and Korynna Renteria, Megan Folbre and Maci Laedeke comprised Team #2. Individual and team prizes were awarded.

Kristi Bolf won First Place High Point Junior Individual, with Kyler Palmer taking 5th, and Laramie Glover and Megan Folbre tying for 11th place.

Team #1 earned 2nd Place High Point Junior Team and Team #2 placed 7th.

The group is coached by Patsy Bolf, DVM, with the support of Karnes County Extension Agent, J.D. Folbre. The group would like to extend a special thank you to Judy Whitley, for embroidering the matching polo shirts for the contest.

The Karnes County 4-H Horse Project Group also participates in Horse Judging, Quiz Bowl, and various riding events, including monthly local practices and an annual District 4-H Horse Show.
