Coastal Bend College is part of the Alamo College’s Eagle Ford Shale Consortium, and on Monday, Nov. 19, Dr. Espinoza attending a press conference in San Antonio about the $1.2 million 2012-2014 Accelerate Texas Adult Basic Education (ABE) Innovation grant that will be shared among all members of the consortium. This grant will help enhance the college’s ABE program and services to help create pathways for adults to enter careers in Eagle Ford Shale related industries.

During the board of trustee’s regular meeting, Nov. 15, Dr. Espinoza presented Sal Garza, CBC instructor at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), with the inaugural Service Excellence Award during the board meeting. The Service Excellence Award recognizes CBC employees who provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituents. Sheri Kasper, supervisor of education at FCI, nominated Garza for his outstanding work ethic and professionalism. Garza also was recognized for his tireless dedication to being an excellent instructor and always being available to teach his or others’ courses at the FCI.
