With only a skeleton crew, the Badger Basketball team kicked off its regular season with a hard-fought overtime loss to Jourdanton last Wednesday, 45-46.
Senior Victor Flores poured in 18 points, while junior Cody Martinez and senior Jacob Puente chipped in 9 apiece and junior Josh Martinez added another 8. Sophomore Brandon Harrin hit a free throw to round out scoring.
Some players had been missing at the time because of football playoffs. Now with football season complete, Coach Jeremy Gamez will have the a full squad hard at work. After the game with Jourdanton, goals for this team continue to grow.
The boys play in Karnes City’s own tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
