Mr. Bedford was born Jan. 11, 1930 on the La Puerta Ranch in Agua Dulce to Iona Elece Walker and Arlas Johnson Bedford. Charles was a gauger in the south Texas oil fields working for Southern Minerals, Sun, and later retiring from Koch after 47 years. Charles served his country for three years in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed farming and ranching at his ranch near Brady. He and Patricia Auvern Siler were married on July 5, 1952 in Melvin.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bedford of Karnes City; daughter, Tricia Leno (Bill) Chancey; son-in-law Terry (Sarah) Wick; grandchildren, Melissa Sciba, Sean Sciba, Christy Wick, James Wick, and Emma Wick; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Charla Elece Wick; sister Peggy Bowden; and brother Arlas Walter Bedford.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday Dec. 26 at the First Baptist Church in Karnes City.
Interment followed at 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday at the Melvin Cemetery in Melvin.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Tiemann, Harold Franke, Herman Kellner, Paul Bordovsky, Harold Priesmeyer, Bill Davenport, B.J. Brown, Leon Jendrzey and Marvin Witte.
Funeral services are entrusted to Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Charla Bedford Wick Scholarship Fund.
