The Karnes City Craft Club held its annual Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 13 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. The luncheon began at 11:30 a.m. and baked ham, side dishes, and desserts were served. Each member brought a Christmas ornament to exchange and also donated money for the Karnes County Thrift Center money tree.
The meeting was called to order by President Shirley Frazier and the members recited the pledge and the Lord’s Prayer. The minutes were read and the treasurer gave her report. Alice Poore and Orlis Jonas were the two birthday celebrants. Beverly Davis and Debbie Gordon, from San Antonio, were able to be with us to celebrate Christmas. Beverly has offered to do the year books again and they will be out in January.
Maxie McNally installed the officers for 2013: Shirley Frazier-President; Diane Maitland-Vice President; Orlis Jonas-Secretary; and Myra Patton-Treasurer. Each officer was given a beautiful beaded bracelet. President Shirley Frazier was also awarded a special beautiful angel to display for her years of serving and coming all the way from Gonzales for each meeting. Jo Ann Kroll acted as Santa and distributed the gifts which each member unwrapped and showed to the group.
Announcements and concerns included Patty Bedford’s husband Charles who is ill and Vickie Thonhoff who has moved to San Antonio. Shirley brought some lemons fresh from her trees and everyone was invited to take some home.
The next meeting will be Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. The hostesses will be Maxie McNally, Shirley Frazier, and Laura Gamez. The 2013 dues are $15.00 and should be paid in January if possible. Hope everyone will be there for the New Year.
