The Karnes City Craft Club held its first meeting of the new year at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City Jan. 9. The meeting was called to order by President Shirley Frazier and the members recited the pledge and the Lord’s Prayer. The minutes were read and the treasurer gave her report. Patsy Whitehead was the birthday celebrant. It was announced that the club donated $100 to the Karnes County Thrift Center from the Christmas money tree.

Myra Patton read two thank you notes to the club. One was from the Karnes County Thrift Center and the other was from Patty Bedford for the memorial in Charles Bedford’s name to the Charla Bedford Wick Scholarship Fund. Patty also thanked everyone for the support and cards she received after her husband Charles passed away.

Maxie McNally informed the group of the Jewelry Sale that will be at the Otto Kaiser Hospital on March 4-5. She also moved to have the club donate $25 in memory of Charles Bedford to the Charla Bedford Wick Scholarship Fund and the group agreed. The door prize was won by Myra Patton and the hostess’ gift was won by Treva Fossler. They received a pair of warm cozy socks. We also enjoyed having a visitor, Joyce Soefje, with us.

The hostesses for the day were Maxie, Shirley, and Laura. The craft they presented was making a snowman out of 2 little clay pots painted white. They were assembled and decorated like a snowman with a scarf, hat, and nose. After the craft was finished, everyone enjoyed refreshments and fellowship.

Dues for the 2013 year were paid and the year books will be ready the next meeting. The next meeting will be Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Karnes City. The hostesses will be Melba Wolfe, Alice Poore, and Treva Fossler.
