Seven Karnes County high school students recently attended the Communities Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) National Youth Leadership Initiative Forum in National Harbor, Maryland. They were among 300 teens from across the country who united together to learn strategies for eliminating use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs in their communities.

While at the conference, the coalition group visited the U.S. Capitol and met with their local U.S. Congressman, Ruben Hinojosa, to discuss the concerning local factors that have created an increase in underage substance use. The students also had an opportunity to visit the Pentagon and several other Washington, DC area monuments.
