On Friday the Kenedy Lions traveled to Falls City to open the 2013 district baseball season and they would do so in fine fashion, as Rolie Zepeda would be too much for the Beavers to handle as he would face 19 batters striking out 15, walking 2 and 2 batters would reach on errors.

The lone run that scored for the Beavers was in the 4th and was unearned.

The Lions would score 20 runs on 12 hits and receive 14 walks and 3 hit by pitch from the Beavers pitching staff as well as the 5 errors committed in the field.

Leading the way for the Lions was RayJ Garza who went 3 for 4 with a double.

Zepeda would go 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, Dominic Cruz went 2 for 4 with a double, Eddie Villarreal and Kris Bryan would both go 1 for 2, Isaac Cruz went 2 for 5, and Jacob Asebedo went 1 for 3 to round out the hitting attack.

The Lions are now 10-2 on the season and 1-0 in district.

The Lions will travel toWoodsboro for a varsity game on Friday March 15 with a 4:30 start time scheduled.
