The Falls City Beaverettes beat Devine, 58-49 during basketball competition at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Dec. 31.

Alyssa Dziuk led the team in scoring with 15 points, Kaelan Cheatham scored 11 and Quincey Olenick scored 9.

“Playing in the AT&T Center was a great experience for our girls,” said Head Coach Brian Osuna. “They enjoyed getting the opportunity to play on the same court as the NBA players that they admire. It is a little bit different than playing in the Falls City gym, but the girls adjusted well. It was good to end 2013 on a good note beating a very good Devine team, and preparing us for goal to be district champs and making a run in the playoffs.”

On Jan. 3 the Beaverttes traveled across the county to Runge to face the Runge Lady Jackets in the first district game of the season. The Beaverettes brought home a 55-15 win.

Hannah Lyssy led the team in scoring with 10 points, Alyssa Dziuk scored 9 points and Kaelan Cheatham scored 8 points.

Last week’s wins bring the Beaverettes’ season overall record to 16-4, 1-0 in district play.

The Beaverettes will travel to Yorktown on Jan. 10 and will play Kenedy at home on Jan. 14.
