February is National Go Red for Women Month with Friday, Feb. 7 marking "Wear Red" day. Come join Second Street Gallery as they celebrate women and raise money for research to find a cure for heart disease. Did you know that one in every three women already have heart disease and it is the number one killer of women in the United States? It is known as the silent killer. Each person probably knows someone or has lost a loved one to this terrible disease. Please help fight this deadly disease; 100% of any and all money raised by Second Street Gallery will be donated to the American Heart Association “Go Red For Women” fund.

The gallery celebrates "Go Red For Women" this week by holding a Silent Auction Feb. 5-7. The auction begins Wednesday at 11 a.m., bidding closes Friday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. The auction includes original paintings, hand made pottery, goodies, Valentine goodies, and just fun stuff most is new some is not. Winning bid purchases may be picked up by 5 p.m. Friday.

Friday, Feb. 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the gallery will have a "Heart Healthy Goodies Sale". There will be lots of chocolate. Stacey Schultz, RN, Director of Kaiser Home Health, will be present giving free blood pressure and glucose checks from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. They will also have side walk chalk available to leave heartfelt messages in honor of and/or in memory of women on the side walks surrounding the gallery.

If you cannot make the celebration or sale, you can make donations online at the personal donation page set up at National Wear Red Day Fund Raising Page, type in "Hearts of Joy" and click on Donate Now! Everyone in the community and beyond can bring awareness to this National "Go Red" For Women Day by wearing red on Friday, Feb. 7.
