Mr. Pawelek was born July 26, 1929, in Panna Maria to Louis and Annie Janysek Pawelek. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He spent 44 years delivering fuel to local farmers and ranchers and was a farmer as well. He spent many years as a servant of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Panna Maria community.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Dugie Pawelek of 58 years; children, Brenda (Wilbert) Felux, Michael (Judy) Pawelek, Sharon (Glen) Robbins and Daryl (Michelle) Pawelek; grandchildren, Chris Felux, Father Jonathan Felux, Greg Felux, Michael Pawelek, Joseph Pawelek, David Pawelek, Elizabeth Pawelek, John Pawelek, Ryan Robbins, Stefanie Roemer, Alysse Pawelek, Amber Pawelek and Matthew Pawelek; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Walter; sister, Tillie; and infant son, Donald.
Visitation was held at 5 p.m. followed by a vigil with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.
The funeral Mass was celebrated there Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. with Father Jonathan Felux officiating. Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery.
