KARNES CITY – Karnes City polices officers responded to an incident at the Chaparral Motel in Karnes City involving a local man who was allegedly under the influence of narcotics.

According to information from Karnes City Police Chief Eddie Salas, a local man appeared to be under the influence of some kind of narcotics when he barricaded himself inside a second floor motel room at the motel located at 116 State Highway 123.

The man, who was not in possession of any weapons, threw himself through the hotel room’s window and then walked down a walkway, climbed over the second floor balcony, and jumped to the ground. The jump resulted in minor injuries.

Salas said it is possible the man was hallucinating as a result of being under the influence of the narcotics.

The case remains under investigation, Salas said, and charges against the man have not yet been filed.
