Kenedy 4B preparing for 2014 summer youth activities

With the spring sport season nearing their conclusion, The Kenedy 4B Summer Youth Program wants to remind parents and student athletes from Kenedy to consider participating in the Kenedy 4B summer 2014 youth program.

This summer marks the 5th year Kenedy 4B will be offering skilled instructions, as well as competition, from local and area High School coaching staff in volleyball, track & field and 7 on 7 football.

A volleyball camp for High School and Jr High girls has been scheduled along with a football camp for middle school boys.

Kenedy 4B has attended competitions in softball, track and field and volleyball in the past that has lead to Kenedy athletes achieving success in High School.

In volleyball, the Leopards have been district contenders the past 3 years for the district championship.

In track, 4B participants Seferino Villarreal achored the Lions 4 X 100 relay at the UIL State Track meet.

Daysha Eskridge found success in the triple jump and 100 meter hurdles advancing to the UIL Regional meet in both events. Kristen Fisher, who trains with Kenedy 4B coordinator Manuel De La Garza, from St, Joseph High school in Victoria, was the State Runner-up in the TAPPS 4A Triple Jump and Long Jump.

The Kenedy 4B program is under the direction of former Kenedy High School Principle Larry Kiesling.

This summer, Kenedy AD Lin Havron will lead the track and field summer program, Former Kenedy graduate and Victoria St. Joseph head softball coach Rudy Diaz, will direct the softball tournaments for the girls.

Heading the middle school football camp will be Coach Michael Booker and he will be assisted by former University of Texas Longhorn football standout Duce “D.J.” Monroe, who is a assistant football coach at St Joseph.

St. Joseph Head volleyball coach Alvin Mumpford returns for another year of Volleyball camp for the girls. This summer, competition play will be free to Kenedy ISD students and/or any student whos parents pay city of Kenedy taxes and live in Kenedy.

Kenedy 4B provides water and sport drinks to the athletes who are participating. Transportation is the responsibility of the parents and 4B will not provide any method of transportation to and from activities of competition.

Summer track and field athletes should contact Coach Havron before school ends to sign up to participate in track as well as the 7 on 7 football for Kendy 4B.

High School Volleyball athletes should contact Coach Weaver to sign up for the volleyball camp and summer volleyball competition.

Dates and time of volleyball and football camp will be provided and posted on the Karnes Countywide.
