They have played together for many summers as little girls, but for several seniors, the conclusion of summer league basketball marks the “first of the lasts” of high school sports.

Peggy Hosek’s Rising Stars “pink reunion team” formed when the girls--who donned shiny pink uniforms--were in 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.

Over the next eight years, the girls have grown to become some of the most decorated high school athletes in south Texas, earning multi-sport championships at all-levels as well as numerous individual all-state, all-region, all-area and all-district recognition.

Despite very busy schedules, the Varsity Rising Stars were able to participate in two National Travel Basketball Association tournaments, and the Greater-Austin Mid-America Basketball League tournament in June.

The team earned a record of 13-2 with a narrow loss to a 5A team from the Dallas/Ft. Worth-area and a buzzer-beater loss to 4A Kerrville-Tivy who won with a last-second “Hail-Mary”.

All of the girls, as well as TABC Hall-Of-Fame (retired) Coach Peggy Hosek, are looking forward to the upcoming high school basketball season, as well as the opportunity to play each others’ school teams this season.
