It's almost “Throwdown” time again, and we're really hoping you'll join us as we celebrate reading and our community.

The Throwdown begins on Monday, July 28 and runs through Friday, August 15. It is open to any Runge Public Library member that is reading at a chapter book level or above (no picture books or EZ Readers). Once everyone is signed up, we will divide the contestants into teams (I will once again be my own team). Your job is to check out books, read them, and return them. Once the books are returned, those pages will count towards your team total. The team who has read the most pages as of August 15 will all receive prizes. The top three readers will also receive prizes (more details about these prizes soon, but let me just say a big thank you to Wal-Mart Supercenter #524 and to the San Antonio Spurs for the donations).

The rules are simple:

Every contestant must have a Runge Public Library card (no card sharing).

That card must be in good standing (no fines against it or against any other card in your family).

You must check out all of your books from the Runge Public Library (Inter-Library Loan books count).

All books must be returned by August 15 in order for the pages to count for your team.

Your card must still be in good standing on August 15 in order for your pages to count towards your team total.

Come on by the Runge Public Library and sign up today!
