What is “A Cowboy Christmas”? It’s where you gather with other cowboys to hear some fantastic cowboy music, poetry and humorous tales of the old and not as old west.

In cahoots with Christmas in Goliad, “A Cowboy Christmas” will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, on the Square and at the Goliad High School auditorium. One free performance will be held on the courthouse steps beginning at 10 a.m. That evening at 7 o’clock there will be a performance at the high school auditorium.

Jean Prescott, Jeff Gore, both have been selected as vocalist of the year for Cowboy Music; Dennis Gaines has been selected as the Poet of the year, Storyteller of the year and Comedian of the Year. Curt Brummett is a working cowboy; he has written several books and is well known for his cowboy humor. All of these have been featured on Red Stegall’s Cowboy Corner. Gary Prescott, formerly of Refugio, has been writing and singing cowboy music for many years. Charlie Ellis is a working cowboy from Papalote and is one of the best reciters of authentic cowboy poetry you’ll ever hear.

Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun at both Christmas in Goliad around the square and “A Cowboy Christmas” in Goliad.
