The members shared the spirit of Christmas giving by bringing household and personal items to donate to the women and children of the Women’s Shelter of South Texas. Victim Advocate Christina Longoria was invited to the meeting to receive the member’s donation and share our lunch. Ms. Longoria gave a short talk and answered questions about the services provided by the shelter. Before she left, the door prize was drawn and Trish Arink won a beautiful basket of tea, chocolates, perfume and a Christmas ornament.
Connie Reardon gave the treasurer’s report and reported our “Christmas in Lagarto” sale held Dec. 4th was very successful and made a $643 profit. Another fund raiser, renting our building for parties, was discussed. It was decided to continue to rent the facility for $75 for half a day and members would be given a discount. The need for eight new 6 foot tables was discussed and three members donated $40 each to purchase the first three.
Members discussed a field trip for the New Year. We decided to see about the Jan. showing of the “River Dance” and the April production of “Cats”.
Our next meeting will be Jan. 8th. We would like to invite anyone interested in joining our group to attend.
