TRJH Bulldogs take on Dilley

The Junior high boys basketball teams hosted the Dilley Wolves last Thursday and came up a little short in both games.

Both teams fought hard until the end and played great defense. In the seventh grade game, the Bulldogs took a 7-4 lead into halftime but struggled offensively in the fourth quarter while Dilley went on a 5-0 run to take the lead and steal the win away from the Bulldogs 14-11.

Defensively, the Bulldogs got a good game from Fidel Luna who caused three turnovers.

In the 8th grade game the two teams went back and forth in the first half with the Bulldogs trailing 14-11 at the half.

The final score was 24-18, with the Bulldogs coming up a little short. Lonnie Reyes played a great defensive game with six rebounds and caused three turnovers.

Other stats for the night for the Bulldogs: Tristan Loessin- four rebounds, Jeremy Porraz with three steals and two rebounds, Kyle Amman – two points and four rebounds, Levi Fulcher with six points and the leading scorer for seventh grade and six rebounds, Ricky Horton had five rebounds and three points, Weston Huff with six rebounds and one point, Marcos Cruz with four points, Shane Edens with four assists and two rebounds, Kris Tanguma with two rebounds and two turnovers caused, and Dustin Terry was the leading scorer for the 8th grade with 13 points and 10 rebounds in an outstanding effort in the hard fought game.

The junior high boys will host Cotulla this Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Student Activity Center.
