Has it really been a decade already?

On Saturday, the Beeville Art Museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary, hosting an exhibition of artists whose works have been highlighted at the museum in the past.

Many of the 30 artists will be present at the event, which is free and open to the public from 1 to 3 p.m.

Among the artists, whose works will be on exhibit from Jan. 15 through April 18, are painters, watercolorists, print-makers, sculptors, photographers and installation artists.

For those who never have visited the museum, this would be the opportune time to take the family or friends and view some of the unusual, creative, modern pieces.

As we’ve stated frequently, this community is so greatly indebted to the Joe Barnhart Foundation for its immense contributions to the arts and literacy, through the BAM and Joe Barnhart Bee County Library.

They, the college and concert association are among the major entities which provide Beeville with a taste of big-city cultural offerings.

It would be quite sad to imagine our town without the BAM and its comprehensive educational programs, exhibitions of renowned artists and collections from larger museums, as well as docent-conducted tours for students, lectures and workshops.

We encourage our readers to visit the “Beeville Art Museum: Celebrating 10 Years of Art and Education” exhibition.

It could open some eyes and hearts to the visual arts and possibly expand one’s creative horizons.
