The Refugio Lady Cats survived a scare from the Taft Lady Greyhounds Tuesday night. Taft came out playing hard and the Lady Cats seemed surprised. The second quarter was the defining quarter for the Lady Cats, where they out scored the Lady Hounds 18-13.

In the third quarter the Lady Cats jumped into a full court press that led to Taft turning the ball over and easy baskets for the Cats.

Coach Hemphill stated, “Taft came out playing hard. We needed to match that intensity and it took us a while.”

The win and a loss by San Diego put the Lady Cats alone in fourth place, with the third place Freer Lady Bucks coming to town Friday night.

Haley Brynelsen came off the bench to score 12 points and Megan Shaw had 16.

The Lady Cats now sit at 17-9 for the season and 5-3 in district.
