Boys and Girls Clubs Wild Hog Cook Off scheduled for Feb. 12

The 10th annual Boys and Girls Clubs of Live Oak County Wild Hog Cook Off will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Live Oak County Fairgrounds on Highway 281 between Three Rivers and George West. Events begin at 10:30 a.m. and go on all long.

This year’s cook-off features a grand prize of a grand ($1,000) to the grand champion, $500 to the reserve champion, and cash prizes in all four categories - chicken, pork spare ribs, pork (wild or domestic) and brisket.

Prize money for categories: first - $300, second - $200 and third $100. Other events include a live auction featuring the auctioneer voted best in Texas, silent auction, basketball skills competition, 50/50 raffle, gun raffle and of course BBQ plates with all the fixin’s.

50/50 raffles are illegal in Texas. While some charities may hold raffles, it is illegal to give cash prizes. Holding an illegal raffle in Texas is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a $4,000 fine and up to one year in jail.
