The Pettus Lady Eagles could not keep up with the taller home team on Tuesday night as the Port Aransas Lady Marlins cruised to a 48-16 victory over the Pettus varsity.

A slow first quarter had the visitors still in the contest, trailing just by two at 6-4 going into the second period.

The Lady Marlins caught fire though in the second period and led by 17 points, 28-11, by halftime.

Port Aransas kept up the pressure on defense and took the third period 13-4 to increase their lead to 41-15

The pace slowed in the fourth and the Lady Eagles could not buy a basket. The visitors got just one point from a free throw and that was it. The Lady Marlins slowed things down and hit for just seven points.

Haille Schauer led the Pettus scoring with five points on the night. Mari Carrizales added four while Chloe Garza hit for three. Ryan Grayson and Ashley Duran contributed two apiece.

The loss in the season finale drops the Lady Eagles’ record to 9-18 on the year and they went 2-6 in district play.
