The game was back and forth the entire night. Dilley came out strong in the first quarter and were ahead 11-3 before Marcos Cruz hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to narrow the margin to 11-6 after the first.
Both defenses were strong in the second quarter holding each other to four points apiece as Dilley took a 15-10 halftime lead over the Bulldogs. Three Rivers then out scored the Wolves 18-13 in the second half to make the score 28-28 at the end of regulation.
The Bulldogs played tougher as the game went on and played tight defense in overtime to hold Dilley to a couple of free throws. Marcos Cruz and Dustin Terry had crucial baskets in overtime to seal the victory for Three Rivers, 34-30. The seventh grade Bulldogs faced a tough and quick Dilley team and came up short 40-23.
Stats for the night: Weston Huff had seven points in the win, Cruz had 13 points, Shane Edens had three rebounds and one point, Kris Tanguma had a steal and two rebounds, Terry with 14 points, and the defensive player of the game was Lonnie Reyes, with nine rebounds and three steals. Reyes also forced five tie possessions to give the Bulldogs the ball back the entire game. Ricky Horton had 12 points, Kyle Amman had three rebounds, Nicholas Ruiz had two rebounds and Fidel Luna had one point on the night.
